You get the idea. The point is, poor ergonomic chairs can have a major impact on your sitting experience and health. The following reasons explain why your chair is causing you pain as well as steps towards avoiding it.

1. Height Adjustment is incorrect

In general, the height adjustment is the basic way to alter your sitting angle, which in turn may affect the position of your pelvis and degree of curve in your lower back, which could adversely affect your normal spinal alignment. In addition, sitting too low in your office chair contributes to posture-related back pain and knee pain due to overworked muscles (quadriceps, psoas, and hamstrings).Your feet should be flat on the ground and there shouldn’t be excessive pressure on your thighs. Restricted blood flow may result from dangling feet or excessive pressure on the thighs.

2. Lack of Lumbar Support

Lumbar support refers to features on the chair that aid in the positioning of the lumbosacral discs, which are located in the lower back. This helps to alleviate lower back pain. According to Spine-health, these discs bear three times more load while sitting than standing, which can make poor posture and spinal tissue damage all the more likely. If you’re one of the 80% of adults who experienced lower back pain, per data from the National Institutes of Health, your office chair may be to blame.

In a chair with lumbar support, like the NEOSEAT, there is a small hump near the bottom of the back which aligns with your spine’s natural curve. By relieving pressure on your spine, lumbar support to ensure the proper posture. As a result, the muscles aren’t overworked, and you’re less likely to slump.

3. Absence of Headrest or Improper Headrest Adjustment

When it comes to posture, every aspect of our body, from the head to the feet, matters. According to professionals in this field, a headrest can assist ensure that the shoulders are relaxed, which is important according to posture rules.

Did you know that insurance companies pay over $4 billion a year to assist accident victims with soft tissue injuries? Headrests, like seatbelts, are a critical safety device that can assist prevent serious injury. Neck and upper back pain are usually caused by working without keeping the back and head in touch with the chair. The Headrest feature provides additional cervical support and comfort.  Properly adjusting your headrest is an important step towards ensuring your safety. Simply grasp the headrest and raise or lower to adjust.

4. Adjustable armrests

Why shouldn’t a chair be able to accept various arm lengths?

Employees no longer simply type on a computer; many now use mobile devices, resulting in postures that are different than ever before. Wrist pain is frequently caused by incorrectly fitted chair arms .This is when adjustable chairs, such as the INFLEX Ergonomic Chair, come in handy. Armrests can be changed in height and width to support your forearms comfortably. Armrest height should be positioned so that the shoulders are relaxed and the angle between the forearm and upper arm is greater than 90º.

Sitting less is a part of keeping your chair from injuring you. If you sit for more than a couple of hours at a time, your posture is likely to deteriorate. Short pauses are necessary to perform at your best. Stand up from your chair every hour or so. To stay hydrated, take a walk around the office and grab a drink. Upon return to your chair you’ll be energized and ready to tackle your tasks in comfort.
